01/10/2003 Old Forge Pond, Blacksmiths Lane Does anyone have any information or old photographs of the area of the Old Forge and the pond at the top of Blacksmiths Lane? It is hoped that this area can be cleared up and made into a wildlife area. Do get in contact with Julia if you have any background on this area. Julia wildlife@thorpe-morieux.org.uk
War memorial, St. Mary's Church Does anyone know why the names of 'Those That Served' on the War Memorial are treated differently? Some names are in full but others only have their initials. Contact Arthur with your thoughts via the Churchwardens. email: churchwardens@thorpe-morieux.org.uk
01/12/2002 Tale of a lost tail Some of you may have noticed I have suffered the loss of my tail. So may I explain so you do not consider me careless! J and J noticed a lump halfway down my pride and joy, it did not hurt so I did not make a fuss about it. Then it started to grow so a visit to the dreaded vet was booked. An operation was performed to remove the suspect lump which proved to be a cyst. Being told that this is a common complaint may I suggest those amongst you that do have tails carry out a regular health check? Sadly, the 'op' proved too much for my dearly beloved tail to cope with and I became quite poorly. Another prompt visit to that Vet! resulted in the emergency removal of my tail. After two operations, pills and potions all in a few days I am pleased to bark of feeling fit and well. It's great to return to hounding visitors, milkman and postman. I really do enjoy a good barking session, don't you? Finally thank you to all that sent their best wishes for my recovery. I'm happy to be back on form although I'm not too sure about my new nickname? (Stumpy O) Connor
