Thorpe Morieux Local History Group

The local history group was formed at an informal meeting in September 1998 with its Constitution being agreed in early 1999.

The main initial focus of the group was in the Millennium project which culminated in the publication of the Millennium Booklet of the Village titled " Thorpe Morieux - a portrait of the village at 2000 AD". This was achieved by a steering group of the local history members gathering all the information about the village both past and present  with very enthusiastic support from everyone in the village.

The meetings of the group are generally held in the Village Hall regularly at which many different projects are progressed with occasionally a specialist speaker invited along to give a talk on their subject.

The current major project is "Moments in Time". This is living records of time past in the village and initially has been started as a competition in Thorpe Times which as time progresses will be added to by audio recordings of current villagers recollections of events during their lifetime. This will assist in completing the picture of the village and how it has evolved over the centuries.
